Why I Started This Venture

For as long as I can remember I was surrounded by, and educated in, the Christian faith. I was brought up in a Presbyterian church and have over the years spent as much time following the gospel as not... until recently. Somewhere around 2004 I began to become more and more immersed in the Christian message. I can’t say for sure exactly when or why Jesus reached out and grabbed my heart, and I have not ever had a clear and specific “Come To Jesus” moment.

What I do know is that over the course of my life I have always been told, and thoroughly convinced, that I had the power to achieve whatever I set my mind to as long as I worked hard and focused on the thing that really mattered most - me. Self reliance and my judgemental “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality was the motto that I lived by, and still struggle with today. During the past few years I have been trying to learn more about the TRUTH of Christianity. I have read till my eyes are about to fall out of my head and still want more.

It’s amazing how a message so clear, honest, and when properly understood, quite obvious, can elude you for such a long time. Chalk it up to arrogance and a view by the world of the idea that we humans are so amazingly brilliant and have got it all figured out. All I know is that God decided to reel me in, and open my eyes to the fact there is one true God who sent his only son to die for all the sins of a misguided people and a broken world.

Why a “Tee Shirts for Jesus” company? For the last few years I have been wrestling with how I could use my years of creative and professional experience in a positive Christian manner. Let’s just say that the creative community is less than accepting and supportive of Christian beliefs. What I discovered was that being immersed in a profession that spends much of it’s time trying to discover new ways of manipulating and misleading people can be mentally draining and ethically difficult to justify within the principles of Christianity. So what to do?

First thing you realize when Jesus takes hold of you is that you have adopted this annoying preoccupation toward wanting to tell everyone you meet about this great and wonderful news whether they want to hear it or not. It’s really quite addictive. The bottom line is that there is a message about the amazing Good News of JESUS that needs to be told and we as Christians are obligated to do just that.

The solution, and I think it is quite insightful, but under no illusion that it was actually my idea, was to put Christian messages on tee shirts. I know that this is not an original idea by any stretch, but that’s sort of the point. After doing some fairly quick and remedial research it became quite apparent to me that there are many tee shirts available with alleged Christian messages of some kind, but very few, if any, that present the Gospel message in an accurate, intelligent, thought provoking, but most importantly, truthful manner. Most of the shirt designs I have seen are either watered down cliches where the main objective is not to offend or simply silly interpretations and ridiculously inaccurate gimmicks that do nothing to promote the Gospel and in many cases trivialize and demean the word of God. On top of that, and this is purely my own personal criticism concerning aesthetics, they were all pretty lame and just not designed very well.

My reasoning was that it might be a great way to get some important Christian messages in front of people and “break the ice” so to speak without being perceived as too "In Your Face" or obnoxious. If the messages where written or chosen with the intent of provoking some kind of thoughtful question, then you might generate, at the very least, an inquiry as to what is being said, and in turn start a conversation. Voila! You get to tell someone new about the Gospel. Brilliant, Huh? Also, I am a runner, so I have a deep seeded affinity for tee shirts and would wear them all the time if I could get away with it.

Anyway, that’s the brief history of how this all came to be. I hope that you spend some time reading through the messages on the shirts and if you like one (or more) that you pick one up.
